Bohemian Beach Love Fest

Real Wedding: No. 2

bohemian beach wedding

These two are not only two of the most down to earth, compassionate, and mega #narli people I have ever met, but they also happen to both be very good friends of mine. As you can imagine, I was over the moon when they asked Flower Child Weddings to be a part of this beautifully simple, bohemian beach wedding set in Cancun, Mexico at Moon Palace Resorts.

What radiates most in these photos by Adam Nash is the community of family and friends that surround this bride and groom. As one of their closest friends, I can honestly say that being a part of this family is a true blessing.

There is no question that the band, Andy Frasco and the U.N., were not only the best wedding entertainment of all time, but one of the best bands I have ever seen! Check out the insanely fun photos at the bottom of this post of everyone gettin’ down on the light up dance floor!

Welcome to our Bohemian Beach Love Fest

Tell us about your beautiful accessories:

Personalized from various Etsy vendors: I wore a moon necklace in remembrance of my diseased father that read, “here with you”, another necklace that said, “dreams come true”, and a small necklace that had an “M” for our new last name. I thought the layered necklaces were perfect for our bohemian wedding style.

Pinned to my dress was a locket that my uncle (who walked me down the aisle) gave me the day before the wedding with a picture of my dad in it that meant the world to me. Also pinned to my dress was a necklace that my mother-in-law gave me the night before the wedding that her mother wore to her wedding and had been passed down to me.

The bride and bridesmaids modeled these beautiful barefoot sandals.

The bride wore a beautiful boho inspired beaded with feathers headpiece from Free People.

Best part about the planning process:

Flower Child Weddings! if it weren’t for Ashley, I know it would not have turned out in the amazing way it did. She took all of the stress away and acknowledged my hard work. She made sure I was present and able to relax and smell the roses.

Favorite memory:

Seeing my husband cry the first time he saw me walking towards him down the aisle – and then looking and seeing our best friends standing up there with him – we were surrounded by so much love!

One difficult aspect of the planning process:

Being that our bohemian wedding was taking place in another country, the communication between the resort and myself/Flower Child Weddings was at times confusing as I do not speak Spanish. I do realize that this is something that goes along with choosing to plan a wedding in another country, but having had a Spanish speaking friend would have been helpful!

We are so in love with the beautiful gold temporary tattoos that Carli wore. They were the perfect beachy bohemian wedding touch!

The design element you wanted to see come to life:

I wanted a relaxed, beachy, bohemian wedding style with natural elements like feathers and rocks while maintaining a neutral and earthy color palette. Everything came out beautifully!

Advice to the newly engaged:

Hire some help! Although I booked my venue and started communication with them on my own, bringing Flower Child Weddings on board brought a huge sense of clarity and peacefulness! Before FCW was on board, I found a simple to-do list that was chronological so I could prioritize and see deadlines. I allotted for one year of planning time so that I didn’t feel rushed.

The bridesmaids wore dresses by Bill Levkoff, Bari Jay, and Jim Hjelm from Bridals by Lori in Atlanta, Georgia. The bride gave each of them a personalized necklace from an Etsy vendor that read, “Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.”

Flower Child Fact:

THE BRIDES LUGGAGE GOT LOST!

Advice to destination brides: Carry on ALL jewelry, makeup, minimal toiletries, and anything else of value. If you can roll up an extra tank top, a pair of shorts, some flip flops, and a bathing suit then go for it! And lastly, carry your dress on board. You can double bag it and stuff it with tissue paper or lay tissue paper flat inside of it and roll the dress – dependent on the style. The bride’s bag did show up the next day – Thank Goodness! But lesson learned for all.

Andy Frasco and the U.N. literally brought the house down and it was awesome!

 The best decision you made:

Hiring a coordinator which helped me stick to the promise that I made to myself and my fiance which was that everything would be done at least one week prior to the wedding so that when we arrived in Mexico a few days early, we could take it all in and ENJOY!

Also, THE BAND!

Four days of fun in paradise with your best friends is probably the best thing anyone could ever ask for. Top it off with that two of them get married and you get to play an integral role in that and there you have it, I’m the luckiest gal in the world. I cherish my friendship with both of you and look forward to watching them grow and flourish as a married couple. What’s next? I’m sure it will be even #narlier.

Thanks so much again for reminding me how amazing this day was for everyone involved! I have never felt so much love in my life and I cannot say with words how well done this blog is to recap the beginning to the party-down end!! Nicolas and I have so many people in our lives that came together for our wedding and made this day the most it could have ever been and we could not have done it without Ashley and Flower Child Weddings!

Starting the day relaxing while Ashley did my hair and makeup could not have been any better – there was no anxiety, all filled with joy and excitement awaiting the day to come and the moment I would see my new husband as I walked towards him. The ceremony itself was beautiful and simple with the most perfect weather. Then the reception was legendary and I have NEVER danced so hard and long – I was literally jumping for 4 hours straight, my calves were sore for days afterward!! Andy Frasco and the U.N. fulfilled their promises and more – they delivered one of the best live shows I have ever witnessed with so much energy! For my husband and I music is important and we wanted to give back to the guests we love so dearly with this entertainment and it was everything we could have imagined and more!!

Thanks for recapping all of this again for us Ashley, you are a dear amazing friend to us and we love you so much!! Thanks for being so inspiring with your hardworking, creative and loving soul! I am so thankful for this day and these memories 🙂
